STURGEON GUIDE - Columbia River Sturgeon

The Columbia River offers some of the best sturgeon fishing year around with high energy action. There is always a place to go and catch sturgeon on this river.

Sturgeon migrate up the Columbia River from the Pacific Ocean to Bonneville Dam in the months of January, Febuary, and March. Most of these sturgeon that migrate, are keeper size sturgeon that follow the main food source of smelt that also migrate up the Columbia River at this time.

Sturgeon feed on smelt, crayfish, clams, shrimp, anchovies, and sardines. Sturgeon fishing in the lower Columbia from Bonneville Dam to Rainier Oregon is the best when the smelt run is in full swing from January through March.

We fish the Columbia River and its tributaries all the way from Bonneville Dam to Buoy 10 near Astoria Oregon where the Columbia flows into the Pacific Ocean.

The Buoy Ten fishery is one of the hottest spots for catching Salmon anywhere in the World!

We catch keeper Sturgeon and trophy Sturgeon from 42' to 60' long.

Fishing for Coho Salmon, Silvers, Chinook Salmon and Fall Chinook and the hard fighting Steelhead during peak times of the year can really produce some hot action so book your trip early for the best times.
